Why We Built This Site
Michigan offers several public-access routes, and each custodian answers a different kind of question. Montmorency County Sheriff retains sheriff-created incident reports, while the current detention route leads to Alpena County. Clerks for the 88th District Court and 26th Circuit Court maintain their respective case files. The Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center operates ICHAT, the Michigan Department of Corrections operates OTIS, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry serves a separate public-safety function. The official contacts, request methods, search limits, and published charges are organized here so readers can choose the proper source.
What You Will Find Here
- Case routes: how to find and read a Montmorency County court case through MiCOURT and the correct clerk
- Official checks: the difference between an ICHAT name search and fingerprint-based self-review
- Local contacts: verified routes to sheriff records, District Court, Circuit Court, and Alpena custody information
- Record relief: Michigan set-aside and Clean Slate sources, including where an application belongs
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of a Michigan court, sheriff's office, police department, or state agency. Those limits affect what we can provide:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot file set-aside applications, FOIA requests, or other paperwork on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
An official copy must come from its custodian, such as Montmorency Sheriff, the court clerk, or Michigan State Police CJIC. This site can only provide the route.
Search Partners
Outside partners supply search boxes found on certain pages and control their own services, charges, and results. When a visitor buys a service after following one of those tools, a referral payment may help support this free resource. We neither set that price nor compile or warrant the resulting information.
